“We hold these truths to be self-evident….”

Historian Samuel Morison wrote that “if the American Revolution had produced nothing but the Declaration of Independence, it would have been worthwhile…the beauty and cogency of the preamble, reaching back to remotest antiquity and forward to an indefinite future, have lifted the hearts of millions….”

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”, wrote Thomas Jefferson in what became the preamble of our US Constitution.

If I may reiterate: Morison noted the “beauty and cogency of the preamble, reaching back to remotest antiquity and forward to an indefinite future” which “have lifted the hearts of millions” in democratic countries throughout the world. This very aspect should be the foundation and uncompromising commitment of NMI’s leadership as it begins the task of rebuilding stability and a healthy investment environment to expand upon current investments while preparing the groundwork to lure future investments.

I envision the eventual emergence of greater cooperation from our friends and allies in the US Congress who would assist these isles in its commitment to build the requisite basic infrastructure that would allow current investors to rebuild and return to healthier levels while we clear the way for future capital infusion. Under this case scenario, there’s no more room for grandstanding nor posturing. We have to give our all to rallying behind the agenda of economic reconstruction.

Instability, as we have seen in the dreaded nineties, should be flushed out with the dark and shallow tide of negativism and mindless agenda of ruination. As great a place these pearly isles may be to raise a family, we should jealously guard it from becoming the hellish hole of our people and fellow man from near and far.
After all, this archipelago is Americana too! Therefore, citizens and non-citizens alike must work side by side on proactivity in our collective efforts to sustain and build wealth and jobs creation.

Albeit difficult, we must rid our hearts of bigotry, injustice, abuse, and usurpation of individual rights. Such has only built senselessness of inflicting pain and hardship to our fellow man. It is for this reason too that I begin the new millennium by reflecting upon what Jefferson wrote in the preamble of our country: “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal….” How true the words of historian Morison of the “beauty and cogency of the preamble” which reaches “back to remotest antiquity and forward to an indefinite future, have lifted the hearts of millions….”

Let’s join hands and move on for success is the sole preserve of those who diligently work for it.

There’s the need to understand with full measure the needs of two entirely different industries here: Service and Manufacturing. They are not and never will be synonymous nor the basic infrastructural requirements to support their roles treated with sameness. And while we may treat one favorably over the other, let us not forget that the attitude of treating, i.e., the apparel industry like some filthy leper, it proved a point:

For all the disdain from within and without, it definitely held sturdy in providing the requisite revenues when nothing else works. Our adolescent attitude that gives birth to strangling regulations need revisiting so to rectify all the band aid solutions we’ve hurled via reactionary legislation. In other words, we have acceded perhaps nervously and ignorantly to what others from without think would work in these isles. No, sir, it should be the exact opposite. It’s New Year’s. Let’s start anew!
