End the silence

It is such an honor for me to be part of this community. I have such a warmth feeling when I think of the people of the CNMI. First, I want to extend my warmest greetings and Happy New Millennium to everyone in the CNMI. The fear of rejection and shame that I felt when I first disclosed my HIV positive status last month has been replaced by love and acceptance. I have not been rejected by anyone in this community. I am deeply moved by the positive reaction of the people that I’ve come in contact with. I am overwhelmed with the show of love and caring that has been extended to me by all the people of the CNMI from the Governor, Lt. Governor, their families, the media and all the people that I’ve come in contact with. I’ve never felt so loved and accepted in my life.

Being chosen as the “Person of the Year” by the Saipan Tribune is such a great honor. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this honor. It gives me the fire to continue to battle against the spread of HIV/AIDS until I die or until there is a cure.

To the people who are infected or affected by this dreadful disease, I challenge you to Stop the Silence for the Silence is deadly and lets all join forces with the Division of Public Health in fighting the spread of this devastating disease.

Once again, Thank you, Si Yuus Maase, Tirow to all my family and to each and everyone of you that have touched my life in one way or another., but most of all to my new found very dear and closest friend and family. Thank you for being there for me.
