G-Money spent in loss to Managaha
Things are heating up on Saipan. Of course, we all know about the weather changes, but it is also getting pretty hot in the Miller Four Person Beach Volleyball League.
Managaha was distraught after losing to Coffee Care two weeks ago. They brought their game faces this week and took down previously undefeated G-Money & Crew. G-Money & Crew has looked like the team to beat all season long, but it only took a three-set loss to Managaha to show the parody of the league.
Big talker and big blocker Bamboo McCue had this to say about the game, “It was G-Money’s House and we pulled together and gave notice. We are the spoilers.”
A normally vocal G-Money and Crew went silent during the second two sets. The silence worked in set two, as they won 11-3. Things seemed to be once again under control. But the crowd sensed the upset, and they got it.
Managaha battled to an 11-5 win that left G-Money & Crew wondering what went wrong.
Earlier in the evening, Coffee Care beat No Fear. The victory puts Coffee Care all alone in first place. Once again, a solid team effort was the key to their success. Jeff Calahan had several bangs while Ted “Deep Dish” Nugent, of Sports Rock fame, put up some tasty sets. He also served for nine straight points in the second set.
“Anticipation,” exclaimed Mike Walsh of the Hot 98sters when asked what got them the sweep victory over the Fresh Spring Rolls. He went on to explain, “we were in their heads before the game even started. P.S.–– Blaine’s head will be even easier next week,” referring to the mind games he plays with his opponents before each game.
The Hot 98sters will play Blaine Rogers and G-Money & Crew next week. He also hit the nail on the head while talking about the second set shutout against FSR by saying, “we put on a devastatingly dominant display.” He said a lot more, but there isn’t enough ink on Saipan to put it all in print. Great digs and consistent play from back row specialist, Paul “DoggyDog” Torres, highlighted all three sets. Torres had several big serves and was eating up the Bangkok Bomber’s hits like fresh rib-eye steaks.
The Misfits stayed in the cellar with a loss to Len’s Junk. The win was the second in three weeks for Len’s Junk. The road doesn’t get any easier for the Misfits as they face Coffee Care next week. While Len’s Junk will try to continue their winning ways against the MHS Dolphins.
