19th Annual DFS Tennis Tournament

The Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association (NMITA) announces the opening of the 19th Annual DFS Micronesian Tennis Championships. The tournament headquarters will be at Pacific Islands Club (PIC). Entry forms are now available at Las Vegas Discount Golf & Tennis and American Memorial Park.
The tournament will be held on May 19-21 and May 27-29. On May 19-21, mixed doubles, doubles and junior singles will be held. On May 27-29, the events will be men’s and ladies’ singles and junior doubles.
The categories in the men’s singles and doubles are 5.0,4.0,3.0 and over 40. In the women’s singles and doubles, the categories are 5.0, 3.0 and 1.0 and under. In the junior doubles, the boys and girls categories are 18 & under and 12 & under. The mixed doubles categories are 5.0 and 3.0. In the junior singles, the boys and girls categories are 18 & under, 14 & under and 10 & under.
Tournament director Jeff Race said each participant in the tournament will receive a t-shirt, a complimentary PIC Waterpark pass and a complimentary ticket for the awards banquets which will be held on May 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the PIC adjacent to the Seaside Grill.
Tennis players from Guam are expected to participate in the competition.
