Red Cross hosts youth dev’t. workshop
On June 21-24, 2000 the American Red Cross will be holding its First Annual Youth Development Workshop for 50 students from Saipan, Tinian, Rota and Guam. The workshop is open to anyone aged 13-19 interested in HIV peer education, willing to commit as a Red Cross volunteer for one year and with a desire for their own leadership development.
The workshop will be free of charge to all participants and will include all meals, lodging and other fees.
“The goal of this workshop is to train the youth to educate each other as we all work together in preventing the spread of HIV in our community. The Red Cross also wants to provide an opportunity for youth to work through leadership development exercises to build themselves up and team them to work together,” said executive director Cassandra Ely.
All interested students must submit an application. All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. Applications are available by fax, e-mail or by stopping by the Red Cross office.
