Chamber to honor founders
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce (SCC) will hold a general membership meeting on Wednesday, June 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Giovanni’s restaurant.
To continue the year long celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, the meeting will feature a special historical presentation and honor the founding fathers of the Saipan Chamber.
What was doing business on Saipan like in 1960 and what were the entrepreneurial challenges the founders faced? This month’s Chamber meeting will honor the founders and feature a presentation by David M. Sablan, a double past president of SCC. Mr. Sablan, an executive of Century Insurance, will reminisce about the times, the issues and the people who 40 years ago had the foresight to create an organization that would become the “voice of business” for Saipan.
The Chamber also invites any business people in community — whether you’re a Chamber member or not — to attend the Coconut Connections mixer on Thursday, June 8, 2000 and enjoy a sunset on the beach at Skipper’s Beach Bar at the Hyatt Regency Saipan starting at 5:00 p.m.
As usual, there will be raffle prizes and an opportunity to win the grand prize — a one night stay at the Hyatt Regency and brunch for two at the Giovanni’s Restaurant.

The general membership meeting on Wednesday is open to all Chamber members. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The meeting will come to order at 12:00 noon. Guests may join the meeting for a cost of $15 per person. Reservations are recommended.
