CHC welcomes CNMI’s first neonatologist
Dr. Pradeep Alur recently arrived on island and will be joining the Pediatric Department of the Commonwealth Health Center next week.
Originally from India, Dr. Alur completed medical school and received a post-graduate degree in Pediatrics.
Dr. Alur received his US Board Certification in Pediatrics in 1996 after completing his pediatric residency at MetroHealth Medical Center, Case Western Reserve Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio. He has just recently completed a three-year fellowship in Neonatology at Case Western, one of the premier medical centers in the United States.
Dr. Alur is the hospital’s and the Commonwealth’s first neonatologist (a doctor skilled in the art and science of the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the newborn infant). With the addition of Dr. Alur to the CHC medical staff, newborn patients are able to receive consultation and treatment that was previously available only in Hawaii.
Dr. Alur will join Dr. Peter Untalan, Dr. Sydney Kometani, Dr. Ayesha Mirza, and Dr. George Christian in the Pediatric Department
Roxanne Green, neonatal nurse practitioner, has also recently arrived. She comes from Vanderbuilt University Medical Center Children’s Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee. She will be at the CHC throughout the summer to provide advanced training in neonatal care to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) staff.
With the addition of Dr. Alur, and the staff training provided by Ms. Green, the CHC’s NICU will be better able to provide state-of-the-art care for our youngest and tiniest of patients.
