Rising fuel costs a worry for Sir Mekere
Port Moresby (The National/PINA Nius Online) - The increasing fuel cost is very worrying and the Papua New Guinea Government's immediate task now was to cushion the effects of the increase, Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta told Parliament.
Port Moresby (The National/PINA Nius Online) – The increasing fuel cost is very worrying and the Papua New Guinea Government’s immediate task now was to cushion the effects of the increase, Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta told Parliament.
Sir Mekere said the only way to solve the problem in the short term was to subsidize the fuel cost from the Budget.
The Prime Minister was answering to questions from Manus Governor Stephen Pokawin who said that the price of fuel would further increase by 0.7 toea that would have effects on the rural areas for example in Manus where the cost for a drum of petrol had skyrocketed to K900 and drum of zoom would be around K1,000.
