GTE faces Badtz Maru in MBL finals
GTE Pacifica earned the rights to force a showdown with Badtz Maru for the crown in the 2nd Annual Masters Basketball League.
GTE Pacifica eliminated NMC Fakpi 71-56 in the only game of the night at the NMC Gym last Thursday. With the victory, GTE will now advance to the finals to face Badtz Maru.
In order for GTE Pacifica to defend their title they will have to beat Badtz Maru twice.
GTE Pacifica had 16 points, 3 assists, 1 blocked shot, and 10 rebounds coming from towering center Ed Cosino. Jack Palacios had 12 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal to help out GTE.
NMC had 21 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and a steal coming from Arnold Mesa and 9 points and 7 rebounds coming from Ray Basa.
NMC was ahead 28-25 going into the second half of play. GTE Pacifica, under the leadership of playing coach Tony Sablan, was able to come from behind and took control of the game.
Badtz Maru, sponsored by Sanrio, is the only team who handed GTE Pacifica their only loss in the playoffs.
GTE Pacifica on the other hand have a power full line and the only way to find out if who will win this years MBL crown is to come down to NMC Gym and watch the MBL finals.
