Irresponsible business practice

The other day, my girlfriend’s 8-year-old son purchased firecrackers and bottle rockets without our approval or permission from two different venders in San Roque. Call me “kooky” but I contacted the police and they promptly met me at one of the stores. The officer explained to the vender that the sale of fireworks to minors could be reason for suspension of the store’s fireworks license and warned her to stop this practice.

The clerk explained that she always tells the children to be careful when they purchase fireworks. The police officer told me there are no laws on the books prohibiting the sale of fireworks to minors.

One of these days someone may be seriously injured as a result of this irresponsible business practice. I don’t know if there is a law or not against the sale to, or use of fireworks by minors without adult supervision in the CNMI. I do know that sooner or later a child will be injured and who will be responsible?
