Tips on Computer Technology
By: Bill Michling
Welcome back.
If you are looking for some beautiful pictures of Saipan, go to: (http://www.saipanphoto.com )
I would also like to remind everyone that all the year 2000 and after articles on the website ( http://www.mespn.com/forms/tech_articles ) are now searchable by keyword(s) or article date. This has been requested a number of times from many of my loyal readers, and now it is available, check it out as well as the online version of the Saipan Tribune, which you can access by clicking the banner on that same page.
Last week we talked about the Mac faithful attending the MacWorld mecca in San Francisco. There is another event that takes place in January that is not directly related to computers in general or Macintoshes in particular. It is called the NAIAS or North American International Auto Show.
Where
The NAIAS is held in Detroit Michigan or another name could be the Motor City. Why is it called Motor City? It is the home of most of the largest auto manufacturers in the world. Companies like Ford, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, and others. Some of the these companies have been here in Detroit for a very long time. Some of the streets are name after then like Ford avenue, etc……
Detroit is located across the river from Windsor, Ontario Canada. To go to Windsor from Detroit you have to go south through a tunnel near down town Detroit or the bridge that is about 5 miles from downtown Detroit. This time of the year, or at least this time I am here, there is now on the ground a lot of snow. In fact after having breakfast at the Golden Griddle in Windsor as I was going to COBO center this morning it was snowing, very large flakes.
What
If you are any kind of car buff then the North American International Auto Show, is where you want to be. All the new car concepts, new car models, and some way out concepts will be shown. You can see cars that will be available this year, next year and into the future. So what if you cannot be here? You can go to our public web site and see all the latest cars and concepts for free. Just go to: (http://www.wieck.com) and click on Public Access, then click on latest or Detroit and enjoy. If you are media, such as newspaper, or magazine you can go to our media site and request a free login to download the hiresolution version of the car pictures. Just go to: (http://media.wieck.com) and click on the form request. Before you know it you will be able to download hires files of the latest new cars and concepts. Remember the downloads are only for the media and media use. Pleas read the disclaimer on the website.
This weeks column is short as I need to get back to the networks.
Have a wonderful week.
