MUZART: Simply explosive

The drums never fluttered that way before and the crowd was never as lively as they were Friday night.

It was undoubtedly a warm island welcome for Hyatt Regency Saipan’s newest musical band, a group of six highly-talented individuals, which performs Tuesday to Sunday at the Gilligan’s Entertainment Center.

Entrance to the Gilligan’s during the group’s welcome concert Friday was designed to look like a jungle — that of a forest which silently shelters a treasure waiting to be discovered.

The group was named MUZART and the members consistently live up to what their band’s name suggests — Music and Art.

MUZART proved it last Friday when it sent hundreds of feet stomping on the dance floor, and tsunamis of hands in the air as they bobble in tune with the group’s explicit and energetic rendition of the most popular songs.

What was more impressive about the group’s members is the passion that they hold for their chosen profession. Their deep love for music becomes more evident in every beat of the drums, the strum of the guitar, the frolic of the keyboard, the blow on the saxophone and the way they sing their songs.

Judging from their first few nights at the Gilligan’s, MUZART is, without a doubt, simply explosive.

This should not come as a surprise. The group has performed in major countries in Asia, and has been synthesized in Malaysia out of other professional Filipino bands.

Composed of a female vocalist and five men — Lovely, Roderick, Ian Kenneth, Joel, Dominic and Albert — who sing as good as they play instruments, MUZART has awed audiences in first-class entertainment venues in several parts of Malaysia, mainland China and the Philippines. (Aldwin R. Fajardo)
