Rocball is back in action.

Rocball players began the third round of competition last Jan 30 and, in the first four games of the new year, three teams have been eliminated from this year’s season.

In the first game of the year, the Jammers, last year’s champions, defeated the Flyers in four sets 38 to 30.

The Jammers remain undefeated at 3 and 0 and the Flyers are now at 1 win and 2 losses. Jennifer Somol of the Flyers, this year’s only Master Blaster, proved once again that gender has no dominance in Rocball’s innovative approach to a team net sport. Jennifer, the only girl on the court, was the heavy hitter of this game with 1 ace, 2 kees, and a goal for 9 points.

In the second game of the third round of action, the Covered Girls tamed the Wild Cats into gentle kittens in three sets 37 to 11. This was the Wild cats third loss of the season and their elimination from any further Rocball competition this year. For the Covered Girls, this was their third straight win and remain undefeated.

Sharma Iginoef of the Covered Girls was the games heavy hitter scoring a very impressive 7 aces, 3 xunks, 4 kees, and 2 goals for 32 points. Which makes Sharma the highest scoring heavy hitter of the year. (It looks like its the year of the ladys, Jennifer and Sharma are on fire, they are setting standards and burning up the competition.)

In the third game of round three, the Blasters, a team made up of students from the Northern Marianas College was eliminated from any further Rocball competition. The Local Boys, defeated the NMC Blasters in three sets 29 to 13.

Shaun Fitial of the Local Boys was the games heavy hitter with 5 aces and 4 xunks for 18 points. And, in the last game of the first week of Rocball action for the new year, DX, the 1999 Rocball champions sunk and eliminated team Sink-or-Swim from any further Rocball games in four sets 53 to 19. Melvin Seman of DX was this games heavy hitter scoring 3 aces, 2 xunks, 4 kees, and 1 goal for 21 points.

With the elimination of three teams, fourteen teams still remain in competition for Rocball’s World Championship Title.
