Student-Athletes of the Month

Swimming: 12-year-old Nina, in had her first off island competition on Guam, earned three B times in five events. She won one 1st, two 3rds and one 5th, and qualified for the next meet, the Pentathlon.

Nina Mosley – Swimming: 12-year-old Nina, in had her first off island competition on Guam, earned three B times in five events. She won one 1st, two 3rds and one 5th, and qualified for the next meet, the Pentathlon.

Alex Negrete – Swimming: Alex is 12 years old and, in his second year of competition, bettered all five of his times entered, including two A and one B times, and qualifying for the Pentathlon Swim Meet.

Athletes of the Month

Tyce Mister – Triathlon: Competed in four major events over the weekend of January 27-28. Ran the 10km MVA Run and competed in Masters Swim Meet on Saturday, he placed 5th overall in Tinian Triathlon in 2:41.08 on Sunday, and a couple hours later, another 5th in the 3 Km open water swim in 50:14 minutes.

Seung Gin Lee – Swimming: Early in January, Seung Gin went to Sydney to compete in Sydney Youth Olympic Festival swimming competition with USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Japan. This was a high level junior competition and Seung Gin swam 5 Pb’s out of seven events and tied one NMI age group record. Last weekend he went to Tinian and placed 6th overall in the Triathlon and 2nd in the 3 km open water swim.

Kathryn Sinclair – Triathlon: Competed in four major events over the weekend of January 27-28. She won 3rd in the 10km in the morning and then picked up three firsts in the Masters Swim Meet. On Sunday Kathryn competed in the Tinian Triathlon and placed 3rd in female division, finishing in 3:04.36. Then that same afternoon swam the 1.5km open water swim.

Tamiko Winkfield – Swimming: Tami competed in Sydney Olympic Youth Festival. Competing in five events, she lowered her 1500m time to 19:22.50, a 40 second drop, then also posted PB’s in the 800 Free and 200 Freestyle. She, too, competed in this high level junior competition with Japan, USA, New Zealand, Australia and Canada.

Both the male and female athlete of the month for January were Co-Athletes.
