New poster design for 2001 Flame Tree Arts Fest sought

The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture is now soliciting designs that will be used in poster and promotional materials for the upcoming 20th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival scheduled in April.

The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture is now soliciting designs that will be used in poster and promotional materials for the upcoming 20th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival scheduled in April.

Designs should be submitted to the CCAC Office in the form of full color rough drafts in any size. However, it must be close to the scale of 17 inches by 22 inches in a vertical format. Interested Artists may submit up to five rough designs by Feb. 23.

From the submitted rough designs, one will be chosen and the respective artist will need to complete a finished product. Selected design will not be returned and will be kept by CCAC.

The artist of the selected design will receive an honorarium and copies of the poster and other promotional materials bearing his or her design.

CCAC is open to answer all inquiries which should be forwarded to Cindy Macaranas at 322-9982/9983.

Officials of the Arts Council are urging interested participants to sign up and register as preparations are being mapped out to ensure the success of the 20th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival to be held at the American Memorial Park.

Mobil Oil Mariana Islands Inc. has already signified intention to sponsor the annual event although the Arts Council is still soliciting the support of other private companies that may wish to co-sponsor the festival.

The Flame Tree Arts Festival is the biggest festival annually celebrated in the Northern Marianas where participants of other islands showcased traditional crafts and contemporary art display.

Participants of Flame Tree Arts Festival provide visitors and community members sales and demonstrations, community organization and information groups. Contemporary and traditional music and performances will be rendered by selected groups who will be participating throughout the festival which is slated on April 20 to 22.
