High school girl cries rape

Police have yet to pin the suspect in the alleged sexual abuse of a child case involving a Marianas High School student who cried rape after she was picked up from the public campus by a man after school hours Tuesday.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Cecil Celes reported yesterday the 15-year-old girl was allegedly brought by the suspect to her house in Koblerville, where sexual intercourse was forced on her.

Police are still investigating the facts surrounding the case. Authorities have already gathered leads that point to a suspect though an arrest has yet to be made, according to Ms. Celes.

Baby reported dead

Mr. and Mrs. Triny Duenas Villagomez are grieving the death of their three-month old baby boy whose cause of death has yet to be determined, police said yesterday.

Parents told police their son was coughing severely the night before to the point where the baby had trouble breathing.

When Ms. Villagomez called for police assistance, medics arrived and transported the child to the Commonwealth Health Center.

Police said when the child was turned over to medical experts for treatment, he was already without pulse.

Authorities are still probing the cause of death.

Tourists robbed at Obyan Beach

Three Japanese tourists are likely to leave Saipan with less items than when they first arrived, after reporting more than $1,000-worth of valuable items missing from a rented vehicle early this week.

According to police, three male tourists in their early mid-20s trekked to the Obyan beach for diving lessons when their things were stolen from a locked car.

Reported missing were a silver prescription glasses, one gray camera and one Fuji film camera, police listed.

After finding some of their things gone, the victims immediately went back where they were staying, at the Saipan View Hotel, to report the incident.
