The Governor’s Developmental Disabilities Council disclosed that various programs will be aggressively implemented this year to help individuals with disabilities.

Only recently, AT Demonstration, Training and Resource Center program manager Dr. Celia B. Lamkin received a powered wheelchair from Adonis and Josephine Santos of Auto Marine Inc.

The powered wheelchair, which costs an estimated $3,000, will be used as part of AT devices at the center to help individuals with disabilities.

The center was put up as a resource and training area for individuals with disabilities who need assistance and devices for therapy sessions. The center also provides consumers additional knowledge on proper use of AT devices.

“The purpose of the donation is for the AT Project’s demonstration and training activities that are extended to consumers, service providers, and the general public,” Dr. Lamkin explained.

The donated wheelchair will be used also for the AT project’s Loan Program which will be implemented in the near future.
