Man charged with assault
The government has pressed assault charges against a Chamorro male stemming from complaints that he allegedly tried to attack a former girlfriend last March 7.
In a complaint filed before the Superior Court, defendant Edward Castro Villagomez apparently could not accept that fact that he was dumped by his Filipino girlfriend who reportedly reconciled with her husband in the Philippines.
Documents state that the suspect started harassing the victim at around 4pm of March 7 at her barracks in Central Garapan.
The victim claimed Mr. Villagomez made a scene outside her place of residence, issuing threats that she should go back to the Philippines or else he would kill her.
The woman tried to escape the confrontation by taking herself to work at the Capitol Bowling Center in Garapan, court records said.
But later that afternoon, the victim further alleged that Mr. Villagomez followed her to work, where he reportedly continued harassing her through profane words.
The suspect also allegedly threatened to hit her with a beer can that he held within his hands, adding that even if he got jailed for hurting her, friends in high places would be able to pull some strings and get him out after one year.
Police was later summoned to the scene where Mr. Villagomez was arrested and transported to the Division of Corrections for processing.
A $750 cash bail has been recommended by the investigating officer for his temporary release. (MM)
