Signifying the start of exhaustive preparations for this year’s Philippine Independence Day celebration, Filipino organizations in the CNMI launched over the weekend the search for the first Mr. and Ms. Philippines-CNMI.

The popularity contest is one of many events that will highlight the 103rd Philippine Independence festivities in June.

Clad in casual attire, Mr. and Ms. Philippines-CNMI aspirants tramped the Hyatt Regency poolside grounds Saturday during a press presentation organized by the Visminda group.

The victorious pair among this year’s four sets of contenders will be crowned during the coronation night slated on June 10, according to Visminda president Eydie Uy.

The most awaited event will feature the contestants exhibiting their skills and special talents, while garbed in their best ensemble.

Vying for the sought-after Mr. and Ms. Philippines-CNMI titles are Jennifer Malahanan and Christopher Matias, Myra Grace Capilitan and Kevin Rejano, Mary Ann Galera and Rommel P. Olayres, and Kathy Lalaine Jeal D. Pagapular and Matt Buenabajo. (MM)
