A Marianas High School Special Education student lodged last week abuse complaints against his 52-year-old teacher, According to reports obtained from the police.

The 15-year-old boy reportedly went straight to the principal’s office, informing school authorities that his Health Science teacher James Claude Burgess allegedly attempted to strike him.

Police said the incident started when the student was sitting in class while the teacher gave instructions for an assignment.

The student, who claimed he did not fully understand what he was supposed to do, continuously told Mr. Burgess he was not able to comprehend the instructions.

The teacher reportedly approached the student and told him to report to the Principal’s office.

The student told the principal Mr. Burgess tried to punch him.

He apparently told police the same story, adding that the teacher “charged at” him.

In retaliation, the student then allegedly turned around and kicked the teacher in the stomach area.

Police have taken the case under investigation.

Gov’t office burglarized

The Parks and Recreation Division reported a brand new computer unit stolen from its As Perdido office, police said.

Records reveal that the suspects apparently gained access to the locked building through a small window in the rear portion of the structure.

Authorities are still on the lookout for suspects to the burglary and theft incident.

Impounded car found with drugs

A private vehicle impounded to police custody over the weekend yielded controlled substance contents.

The car whose owner has not been disclosed was reportedly roaming around the Chalan Kanoa area over the weekend when a police officer flagged it down for a routine check.

The officer on duty was able to note from the outset that the car’s registration appeared expired.

After making a violator stop, the officer asked the driver for the car’s registration papers, later on confirming that the vehicle was past its scheduled registration date.

Police reports stated that the vehicle’s registration sticker and number did not match that of the license plate.

When the officer asked for a consent search, the driver of the vehicle refused.

The officer was left with no choice but to impound the vehicle to DPS custody, where crystal metamphetamine and marijuana were found inside the car.

The driver of the vehicle was not arrested. A probe on the case is still pending before the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
