Art exhibit highlights local talents

Pacific Islands Cultural Artists, a duly licensed non-profit organization, will host an art Exhibit entitled “Diversity in Unity”. The exhibit will showcase the artwork of seven of the Marianas’ hottest contemporary cultural artists.

The show will be held at the Hyatt Regency-Saipan from April 20 to 24. The exhibit will include work from Phillip and David Sablan, the Marianas’ only contemporary coconut leaf sculptors.

Phillip’s life-sized dolphins, sea turtles and manta rays, as well as his brother David’s canoe’s have been displayed in exhibits and museums in California, Hawaii, Japan, Samoa and New Caledonia.

Other artists include stone carver Joe Guerrero, multi-media sculptor and jeweler, Joe Guerrero, Ray and Joe Viloria, the Marianas’ only solar etchers and Saipan’s own Douglas Rankin, the banana painter.

Their works will be displayed at the lobby area of Hyatt Regency and the exhibit is open to the public. The artists invites everyone to experience this extraordinary gathering of some of the finest artwork in the Marianas.

The artists will also be on hand to demonstrate and answer questions the public may have. Please come down and support the arts.
