Saipan soldier graduates from Army’s Signal Corps
A brave and talented young soldier from Saipan has successfully graduated and was inducted into the Signal Corps of the US Army at Ft. Gordon, Georgia. PFC Deyna Rose Apatang is following her family tradition of committing her life to the country’s national defense.
The youngest daughter of Tonie and Rep. David Apatang (retired Sergeant Major of the US Army) is the first soldier from the CNMI to be trained at the 447th Signal Battalion, US Army at Ft. Gordon. Deyna’s advanced Individual Training (AIT) unit is Echo Company 447th Signal Battalion 15th Signal Brigade. PFC Apatang’s new occupational skill is Information System Operations.
The 447th Signal Battalion is the largest signal battalion in the army responsible for training soldiers in 6 military occupational specialization (MOS): 31C31C, Single Channel Radio Communication; 31L , Cable and Wire Systems Installations; Satellite Communications; Computer Operational Software and Systems Engineering; and communication record traffic operations, The battalion’s mission is to graduate well trained, highly motivated, disciplined, and physically fit soldiers who live by the army values and are competent in their basic soldiering and MOS skills.
In a few weeks PFC Apatang will be taking up her next assignment at Ft. Hood, Texas. We extend our congratulations and salute to PFC Deyna Rose Apatang and the Apatang family of Saipan for a job well done.
