A 26-year-old man was stabbed on the arm Sunday by a drunk suspect who, along with his brother, raised a ruckus during an afternoon gathering in their aunt’s house in Susupe, police said.

Public Safety spokesperson Lt. Pete C. Muña said the victim, John P. Aquino, received the blow after he refused to fight with suspect, 20-year-old Dean Sanchez Santos, who had challenged Aquino for a duel.

It was his brother, John Sanchez Santos, 25, who allegedly stabbed Aquino on his left biceps using a knife, according to Muña.

Both suspects, who were reportedly intoxicated with alcohol, hurriedly left the scene after the stabbing only to come back a few minutes later to throw rocks at their aunt’s house.

Aquino told police that his family members tried to stop the suspects from further causing a disturbance but to no avail.

Santos and Sanchez allegedly ran toward the church and continued to throw rocks at the residence until police officers arrived at the scene.

The pair attempted to flee the area but authorities eventually caught up with them.

Police officers had a trying time subduing the suspects, who were resisting arrest, Muña said.

Sanchez allegedly pushed police officer Vicente Babauta and tried to carry the latter on his back until both of them fell to the ground.

The older suspect also kicked Babauta on the thigh and continued to yell at him, police reported.

Santos, for his part, also fought with another police officer in a bid to stop authorities from arresting his brother.

But the police officers were finally able to subdue the belligerent pair. Both were apprehended on grounds of assault with a dangerous weapon, disturbing the peace, assault and battery and resisting arrest.
