In recognition of individuals and private companies that made the Miss CNMI 2002 a success, the Northern Marianas Beauty Pageant Association held an appreciation banquet at the Dai Ichi Hotel Saturday night.

The banquet gave face to a number of individuals and private agencies that supported and promoted the pageant in unique and special way.

NMBPA President Gerald Salas handed out plaques of recognition to contestants of the Miss CNMI 2002 Beauty Pageant, to supporters, the panel of judges, and sponsors of the eight candidates.

Salas also gave away trophies and certificates to individuals behind the event, whose strong support made the competition the grandest among other beauty contests in the Northern Marianas.

The NMBPA awarded candidates Anna Marie Manibusan, Ladonna Lynn Castro, Katrina Cabrera, Kristina Diaz, Loni M. Perry, Miss CNMI-Universe 2002 Virginia Gridley, Miss CNMI-International 2002 Christine Juwelle Cunanan, and Miss CNMI First Runner Up Shara Dela Cruz.

The association also handed out certificates to Yodan Insurance; Seabridge Inc; McDonald’s; Pena House and Boutique; Verizon; Blossoms Floral Depot and Novelties; Tasi Tours and Transportation, Inc; and Chickadee.

Salas also acknowledged the support of former Miss CNMI International Michelle Sablan-Hernandez, who served as this year’s pageant director.

The association also recognized the support and expertise of Ernie Molina who is the executive producer of the pageant. Molina will be joining Cunanan in Hawaii in October for this year’s Miss International competition.

Also present during the appreciation banquet were Hermana Ling-Gridley, mother of Virginia Gridley; NMBPA Treasurer Jesse Palacios; NMBPA National Director Jonas Barcinas, and other members of the organization.
