Koblerville claims elem. baseball crown

They needed every inning to do it but Koblerville Elementary School was able to defeat Dan Dan Elementary School in the championship game of the Interscholastic Baseball Tournament at the San Vicente baseball field yesterday.
Koblerville scored three seventh inning runs to take down Double D, but it wasn’t going their way until late in the game.
The first two innings showcased the great enthusiasm of the players for both teams, and some excellent plays on defense as well. They are in elementary school and are able to turn double plays like the professionals.
The score was zip-zip going into the third inning, when Dan Dan exploded for four runs, and it looked like it was going to be another deciding victory for the D’s. They tacked another run in the fourth, and were taking control of the game, 5-0.
Koblerville Elementary had other ideas in mind. When they got their ups in the top of the fifth, they brought home the bacon to the tune of four runs, reducing the Dan Dan lead to just one, 4-5.
The tension was building as the outs tallied up and the top of the seventh inning was about to get started.
The clan from Kobler could choose to either score some runs or go home in second place. The kids from KES opted to score, churning out three runs to give them the 7-5 lead.
The first time that they were down in two games, DES had to play from behind, and they only had three outs to recover.
It was not to be for the gray shirts of DES, as good fielding got the first two outs, and the final batter went down looking.
On Thursday, May 13, Dan Dan faced the Canary’s on San Vicente School’s home turf. The D-Team didn’t take long as they jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the game’s early going. With their team down by eight runs, the crowd turned up the juice to try to energize the Canary’s. It worked, as the fighting yellow rallied to score six runs, making a game of it toward the end.
Dan Dan was too tough that day, winning the game against SVS and their legion of fans, and advancing to the finals against the clan from Kobler.
