The 2004 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League will kick off tonight at the Garapan court.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin promptly at 10:30pm with the parade of teams. The highlight of the evening will be the selection of the Best Muse and Best Uniform.

The opening will also be graced by the presence of Becky Castro, manager of Triple J Five Star Hotel – the sponsor of the pennant trophy, as well as the managers of all seven teams participating.

Defending Inter-Hotel and Restaurant Basketball League champion Keeraku Restaurant will be the first to see action with Castro making the opening toss.

Their opponent will be any of the six teams that have also signed up for this year’s competition—Country House, Capricciosa, Jollibee, El Segundo Restaurant, Angel Wings and LSG-Sky Chef.

All games of the Inter-Restaurant Basketball League will be played at the Garapan court to attract the most number of basketball fans and will be held starting at 11pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

All teams will go through a single-round elimination phase. It will be followed by the playoff phase. The battle for third place will be a single knockout game, while the finals would be a best-of-three affair.

The games will be spiced up by a 3-point shootout competition during halftime. Aside from the overall championship trophy, teams would also be fighting for the pennant championship, which goes to the team with the best record after the first round.

While Triple J Five-Star Wholesale will sponsor the pennant trophy, the overall championship will come in the form of a cup that will be passed on to the winning team each year. Champion teams, however, would have their names etched on the cup and will retain a replica.

A number of individual awards are also up for grabs. Among them the MVP, spots in the mythical five, and 3-point king award.
