Fire Rescue vehicle involved in collision
A Fire Rescue vehicle collided with another car along Middle Road Garapan while responding to an emergency call last Sunday, resulting in minor injuries sustained by all parties involved.
Police report indicated that the collision occurred at the Navy Hill traffic light intersection.
Investigation conducted by Sgt. Anthony Macaranas showed that the rescue unit, coming out of Navy Hill, was exiting the intersection with activated emergency devices—red lights and siren. The vehicle, operated by 35-year-old John Mettao, was making a left turn into the inner southbound lane when it collided with a southbound vehicle that was in the southbound inner lane.
The incident was reported at 9:59pm.
The 1997 Ford rescue vehicle with license plate number GOVT2961 sustained moderate damage on the right front and right side.
The other vehicle, a 2003 Toyota four-door green sedan with license plate number ADD-601, was operated by 28-year-old Dong Guo Jin. The vehicle sustained extensive damage to its front portion.
Both occupants of the rescue unit, as well as Jin, were transported to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment and were later released.
Department of Public Safety public information officer Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. said the crash is still under investigation and that no fault has been determined yet.
