New PREL scholarships for Pacific teachers
One of greatest challenges for K-12 education is the shortage of qualified teachers. To increase their numbers of qualified teachers in the U.S.-affiliated Pacific, Pacific Resources for Education and Learning has established the PREL Teacher Scholarship Fund.
Scholarships will go to teachers or teacher candidates who are in the process of completing an accredited preparation program.
Applicants must reside in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, or the Republic of Palau, and must be committed to teaching in this region.
“We are delighted to be able to make these scholarships available to candidates who, like PREL, are dedicated to quality education in the Pacific,” said PREL CEO Tom Barlow.
The scholarship complements other PREL initiatives and programs that support increased student achievement.
To apply for a PREL Teacher Scholarship, visit PREL’s website or contact your local PREL service center. Application forms and instructions on how to apply are available on the Web at www.prel.org/scholarship. All application materials must be received by June 15, 2004.
PREL is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that serves schools in the Pacific, Asia, and the U.S. continent. PREL works collaboratively with educators to provide services that range from curriculum development to assessment and evaluation.
PREL’s main office is located in Honolulu, Hawaii, with service centers in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia (Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap), Guam, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.
