Over $35K at stake in RP Independence Day tourney
The $10,000 hole-in-one prize in the third hole just ratcheted up the prize money at stake in the Philippine Independence Day Golf Tournament to over $35,000.
The tournament, which marks the marks the 106th anniversary of the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain on June 12, 1896, gets underway this June 13, Sunday, at the Coral Ocean Point Resort golf course.
Mobil Oil Marianas has already put up a $25,000 hole-in-one booty on hole No. 12.
Aside from these two hole-in-one prizes Fil-Taga Golf Association will also award $300 and a trophy to the champion, $200 and a trophy to the runner-up, and $100 and a trophy to the third placer.
Other prizes up for grabs are the nearest-to-the pin contest as well as various cash and in-kind prizes during the raffle.
Fil-Taga will use a net play format throughout the tournament and shotgun tee-off starting at No. 1 through No. 9 holes starts at exactly 12pm. Showtime is set at 10:30am. The Callaway system will also be automatically applied to a player without a verified handicap.
Tournament fee is $100, which is inclusive of green fee and invitation to a dinner banquet at the COP poolside on the evening.
Deadline for submission of entries is on June 10. After June 10, entry fee goes up to $120. Payment should be coursed through Express Tour & Travel Agency, located at the Paradise Hotel, 1st floor, Middle Road, in front of Commonwealth Health Center in Garapan, or call 233-9775 and look for Cecille.
Entry forms can be picked up at the Las Vegas Discount Golf & Tennis, COP, LaoLao Bay Resort, Marianas Country Club, and Kingfisher Golf Links.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Junior Golf Association.
