WILD RIDE, DUI LAND MAN BEHIND BARS

A 23-year-old man who was allegedly speeding was arrested by police officers after a brief chase along Beach Road early Wednesday morning.

According to the police report, the suspect, Geroge T. Manglona, was driving a mini-dump truck and traveling south on Chalan Kanoa when spotted by men of the Department of Public Safety.

Sgt. Anthony Macaranas of the DPS Traffic Section gave chase in an attempt to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect allegedly disregarded the officer and continued driving south to the San Antonio area.

The suspect then reportedly stopped at a residence by the Michigan garment establishment.

“The operator of the vehicle was intoxicated and was then placed under arrest,” said DPS public information officer Thomas A. Blas Jr. “He was brought down to DPS central in Susupe to undergo further DUI processing in which he refused to submit to several tests.”

Blas said the suspect was then cited and is now detained at the Adult Correctional Facility.

Blas said the suspect is being charged for not having a driver’s license, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, and DUI.

TWO SURRENDER TO DPS

Two suspects allegedly involved in separate crimes voluntarily surrendered to the Department of Public Safety.

At 8:30am yesterday, the DPS took into custody 50-year-old Manuel Jose Alvarez, who was allegedly involved in a domestic incident in Garapan last June 4.

Police report indicated that Alvarez is being charged with assault, criminal mischief, and disturbing the peace.

The arrest warrant was issued by Superior Court judge Kenneth Govendo.

Also taken into custody was 26-year-old Albert Kaipat, who was arrested pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by Presiding Judge Robert Naraja in connection with an assault and disturbing the peace incident that occurred in San Jose on May 17.

Kaipat, who turned himself in over two days ago, is also being charged with contempt of court for allegedly violating conditions of his probation from a prior case.

The two suspects are now detained at the Adult Correctional Facility and are both awaiting bail hearing.
