San Antonio community honors patron saint
Parishioners of the San Antonio Church descended on the church Sunday afternoon to celebrate the parish’s fiesta that honors their patron saint, San Antonio de Padua.
Bishop Thomas Camacho led the Eucharistic celebration that was also attended by Fr. Manuel “Dondon” Igrubay of San Antonio, Fr. Charlie Borja and Fr. Ray Rosal of Mt. Carmel, Fr. Manny Corcuera of San Vicente, and Fr. Joe Villagomez of Guam.
With this year’s theme “Community,” the San Antonio community came together for the successful staging of the fiesta. The San Antonio Parish Council, which include Frances Ramon, Adrian Echon, Dave Apatang, Herbert Del Rosario, Maria Aldan, Ron Dela Cruz, and Fr. Dondon, also contributed to the success of the fiesta.
After the Mass, parishioners gathered at the church grounds to participate in the several activities lined up for the celebration, which included a dance competition and music provided by the Hotlips band.
San Antonio Youth president Naomi Pangelinan, along with the Youth members, was on hand to assist with the several games that took place in front of the church. The parlor games included tug-of-war, musical chairs, bobbing for apples, basketball, egg toss, and grease pig run.
The San Antonio Children’s Choir also shared their talents, performing a dance number that was led by Sr. Argell.
Fr. Dondon thanked the many people who contributed to this year’s fiesta. “Heartfelt thanks to all our parishioners, donors and friends who contributed financially for the fundraising and for our fiesta celebration. Thanks so much for sharing your blessings, your time, talents and resources.” (Cassie Dlg Fejeran)
