Makos floored a young Chalan Kanoa Saints squad 95-47 in both teams’ debuts in the Rotary Club of Saipan Summer Youth Basketball League Wednesday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Christian Dela Cruz started the fireworks for Makos in the first half and Quincy Johnson added to it as the team entered the half with a comfortable 45-27 advantage.

Veteran Paul Magcalas then joined the fray along with Seth Hockins and Ben Manglona leading Makos to the victory.

Johnson paced five Makos players in double figures with 18 points. Luis Reyes was the highpoint man for the Saints with a game-high 26 markers.

On Tuesday’s Rotary match, Garapan Rollers I also made a sizzling debut after vanquishing 69ers 99-27.

G-Rollers I blasted out of the gates and spotted their IVYBL rivals 54-17 after the opening 20 minutes. Pete Iguel was a driving force in the first half, pumping in 15 of his 17 total points to lead G-Rollers.

14-and-under MVP Preston Basa tried to rally his team back in the second half, exploding for 18 points. But Lester Babauta suddenly found his touch and G-Rollers I had too much of a lead and the 69ers didn’t just had a chance.

Babauta scored 22 points to lead G-Rollers I to the win. Iguel and Bill Kaipat also chipped in 17 points apiece in the victory. Basa wound up with 21 markers to pace the 69ers, while Bill Babauta added 12 more.
