Municipal Council lauds Sgt. Deleon Guerrero
The Eighth Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council has adopted a resolution recognizing, congratulating and commending Army Sgt. Anthony Beldad Deleon Guerrero for his courage, bravery and determination to uphold the U.S. Armed Forces’ goal to secure peace, freedom and democracy in Iraq.
The resolution reads that the U.S. Armed Forces declared war against Iraq’s dictator Saddam Hussein to destroy weapons of mass destruction, to deter his acts of terrorism and for the people of Iraq to enjoy freedom, peace and democracy.
The resolution further states that many men and women in the United States Armed Forces were deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and other dangerous posts to secure global peace, freedom and democracy.
The CNMI men and women in the US Armed Forces who were wounded or killed in action in Iraq; Afghanistan and other dangerous posts were U.S. Army Sgt. Yinjyh “Eddie” Leng Chen, the first CNMI Casualty in Iraq; U.S. Army Sgt. William Ayuyu Sakisat, Jr., wounded in Afghanistan; U.S. Army Specialist 4 Monique Guerrero Sablan, wounded in Iraq; U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Randy Takai Johnson, wounded in Iraq; U.S. Army Specialist Nazario San Nicolas Borja (Tinian), wounded in Iraq; U.S. Army Specialist Gregory Cabrera Cing (Tinian), wounded in Iraq; and U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dustin M. Pangelinan, wounded in Iraq.
Accordingly, Sgt. Deleon Guerrero was deployed for a tour of duty from Feb. 2003 to Sept. 2003. While in Iraq, Sgt. Deleon Guerrero was a flight operator. He is the proud son of Northern Marianas College President Antonio Villagomez and Alice Beldad Deleon Guerrero of Fina Sisu, Saipan.
The Resolution ended by saying that the members of the Municipal Council join the people of the CNMI in extending special recognition, and commendation to Sgt. Deleon Guerrero for safeguarding and protecting the lives of his fellow Americans.
Chairman Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero vice chairman David A. Indalecio approved while secretary Antonia M. Tudela attested the resolution.
