STA to crown Verizon Cup champions this Saturday
After grueling weeks of competition, the Saipan Tennis Association is ready to crown respective champions of the recent 2004 Verizon Tennis Cup.
According to STA, an awards ceremony will be held this Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Madonna Hall of the Saipan Grand Hotel. The event is set to begin at 6:30pm.
Among the champions to be crowned in the men’s corner are singles 5.0 king Faheem Ebrahim, 4.0 champion Renato Espanola, 3.0 top gun Babu Malayil, and 2.0 winner Lito Santos.
The women’s corner is led by 4.0 champion Kanani Ashraf and 3.0 queen Arlene Osma.
Roy Pangelinan and Ashraf will also be recognized for winning the Mixed Doubles 5.0, while Ashraf and father Dr. Mohammad Ashraf will be crowned for their 4.0 win. Ligaya Paculanang and Marlon Estigoy also won the 3.0 class.
Also included in the ceremony is the induction of officers as well as awarding of certificates to individuals who took part in the USTA Coaches Development Workshop held on March.
A $5 fee is required at the gate for Verizon Cup participants, and $8 for non-participants or guest. Sponsors, kids and individual donors enter free of charge.
The fee includes a dinner buffet, bottomless drinks, all-night-long disco, and a raffle ticket for cellular phones, cellular cards, corporate giveaways and gift certificates from individual donors.
