The Junior and the Senior Little League All-Stars of the CNMI represented the Asia-Pacific Region well in their trips to the mainland where they competed in the World Series, but as determined as they were to win the big one, they were eliminated by a extremely talented field of international hard-ballers.

The coaches and players from the Pacific gained plenty of experience from the tournaments, and they will have a year to work on developing the skills to become the World Champions in 2005.

For those following the results of the Junior and Senior Little League World Series, here is the way that the tournament finished after the CNMI made its exit.

The CNMI Junior Team lost to both the Latin American representative from the Paraguana Little League of Venezuela and the Guaymas Little League of Mexico in close games, and was these two teams that ended up going head-to-head in the International Final.

The Venezuelans were on the winning end of the contest, edging out the Mexicans to advance to the Championship Game against the top finisher from the USA, Palma Ceia/Bayshore Little League from Tampa, FL.

The Floridians were crowned the champions of the Junior League World Series when they downed Latin America by a 5-2 score, and the game will be rebroadcast on ESPN 2 (KMCV Channel 40) on Friday, Aug. 27, at 1am Saipan local time.

The setup for the Senior League was a little different. Instead of the international and United States teams being grouped into separate divisions, they were inter-mixed into two pools.

The CNMI was grouped into Pool A with division winners, South representative Dade City Little League from Dade City, FL and West representative El Rio Little League from Oxnard, CA.

The Floridians lost a one-run contest in the semi-finals to the Freehold Township Little League team from Freehold Township, NJ, 1-0, while the Californians were able to squeak past the San Francisco Little League All-Stars from Maracaibo, Venezuela, 1-0, to advance to the Championship game.

The Freehold Township Little League All-Stars earned the title of Senior League Baseball World Series Champion by trouncing the boys from Oxnard 10-1.
