DPS sobriety/DUI checkpoints this Friday

The Department of Public Safety Traffic Section announced yesterday that it would hold several sobriety/driving under the influence checkpoints this Friday, Sept. 10.

The first checkpoint set up take place along Beach Road Chalan Lau Lau by Chars Mart. It is scheduled to begin at approximately 7pm and conclude at 8:15pm.

The second set up will be on 2W Chalan Lau Lau by Verizon. It is scheduled to begin at approximately 10pm and will be terminated at 11:15pm.

Both checkpoints will be terminated if its starts to rain.

“This activity is part of the [DPS’] efforts to deter and detect violators of the CNMI Traffic Laws and to ensure that all vehicle occupants and the general public on the highways are protected,” the Traffic Section said. “In addition, the Traffic officers will be performing Aggressive Driver Interdiction and laser activities.”
