Special CD to go on sale at Palau election
A specially produced album dedicated to all candidates in the upcoming Palau general election, Palau residents living overseas, and the 10th Palau Independence Day will be on sale this Saturday.
According to Rose Phillips, owner of USSP Hitstarz Production, sale of the album will coincide with the general election for Palau residents on Saipan at the polling place within the Marianas High School Building J area.
The album, entitled Palau Whoopee Live Music 2004—Flashback Ditties, features 17 Palauan songs that were popular in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
“These are all old songs,’ Phillips said. “The lyrics are still the same, but it’s just with beats from today. All have chacha beats, except for one, which is a slow song.”
The album features well-known artists Sheldon as vocalist, Berly as keyboardist, and Albino as guitarist.
The album was recorded during the celebration of Palau’s 10th Independence Day in Palau on Oct. 1.
Sheldon, who lives on Saipan, returned from the Palau celebration and got the recording produced through USSP Hitstarz Production. About 500 copies were produced.
Copies will be sold at a special price of $10 during the election. Remaining copies will then be sold at Martha’s Retail Store and Omais Fish Sale.
“I’ve already introduced the album to others during the presidential rally the previous weekend, and many are really interested,” Phillips said. “Many already paid to hold on to the CDs, and I think it’s pretty much going to go.”
