Just a couple of days after giving thanks for all of the good fortunes in our lives, the National Football League continues on through the regular season with some big match ups that may change the fortunes of teams striving for the top.

At 7-3, the Baltimore Ravens will be facing the 9-1 New England Patriots, and though there are still a few games remaining in the season, the Ravens could sure use this one if they intend to make the playoffs. The top three teams in the AFC are rolling along in their respective divisions, as the Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers (9-1), and the Indianapolis Colts (8-3) have created some distance from the pack.

The next five teams in line will be faced with a battle for the last three spots, as the N.Y. J-E-T-S –Jets, Jets, Jets, Denver Broncos, and San Diego “Super” Chargers share the Ravens mark of 7-3. The Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t far behind at 6-4, which should make for an interesting end to the season.

In the NFC, only the Philadelphia Eagles (9-1) and the Atlanta Falcons (8-2) have begun to rise to the top. The rest of the playoff hopefuls have mediocre records at best, as the once flashy Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers are tied for first in the North at 6-4, while the Seattle Seahawks own the West at 6-4 as well. The best records after them are the St. Louis Rams and the N.Y. Football Giants at 5-5. For the remaining post-season slot is still up in the air as Arizona (4-6), New Orleans (4-6), and Tampa Bay (4-6), make up a losing team log jam.

At the very least, the race for the final spots should prove exciting, but it may not be as electrifying as the season long journey that our local prognosticators have undertaken.

At 81-49, Will has seen his big lead dwindle to just a three game advantage, but this time around he has both Jennifer and the Big Tuna in his rear view mirror at 78-52. John is just a game behind them at 77-53 on the season, and after slipping with a couple of turkey day losers, Rich dropped to 70-60.
