NMASA, BANMI monthly this week

The Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association and the Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Island will have their respective monthly meetings next week.

The governing sports body of the CNMI will conduct its meeting on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, beginning 7:30pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.

All board members of NMASA are required to attend the meeting. Sports associations sending athletes to the Palau 2005 South Pacific Mini Games must also send a representative to the meeting. Partial payment for airline tickets and per diem for sports associations and athletes going to Palau are due at this date.

Nominees for December athletes and student athletes of the month would also be decided. NMASA also announced that board would be taking a vote on who will be enshrined in the NMASA Hall of Fame.

BANMI, meanwhile, would have its meeting tomorrow, Jan. 4, 2005, also at the Ada Gym conference room starting at 6:30pm. Topics to discussed in the agenda are the wrinkles in the ongoing 2004 Government Basketball League and updates about the 35-and-over Masters Basketball League and 25-and-under Basketball League.

SML teams told to prepare for 2005

The Saipan Major League Baseball Association is informing teams interested in joining the upcoming 2005 season to start preparations for the February opening.

Teams are advised to start securing sponsors immediately and not wait for February to arrive.

Teams are allowed to field rosters of not more than 25 players and must be finalized before opening day. Entrance fee is $1,200 and should be made payable under the name of the Saipan Major League.

Interested individuals or teams are asked to contact SML president Rose igitol at 288-5426, vice president Bob Coldeen at 235-KMCV, or league coordinator, Tony Rogolifoi at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium at 664-2508.
