The squad from Kagman 1-2-3 came within a couple of innings of winning their fourth game at the Oleai Sports Complex on Thursday night, as they let a 5-5 tie slip away from them in the bottom of the fifth inning against the D-9ers to lose their 11th game of the season, 12-8.

To their credit, the homesteaders fought hard to rally back from a 5-1 deficit, as they railed off four runs in the top of the third inning to cinch the game at a nickel apiece. Unfortunately for the Kagman squad, the D-9ers were unfazed, and struck back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and four in the sixth to finish the job.

Catcher Jonathan Tenorio led the charge for the boys from the ninth district, as he went 3-for-4 at the plate, knocked in five runs, and crossed the plate for a score in the bottom of the fifth. Shortstop Mel Sakisat also provided plenty of lift for the D-9ers, as the All-Star went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles, a triple, two runs batted in, and a pair of plate crossings. Teammate Roy Celis equaled their mark of 3-for-4 at the plate, and added a pair of doubles, a single, two scores, and a run batted in, for good measure.

Overall, the D-9ers scored 12 runs off of 15 hits in six rounds of work at the plate. They maintained their second spot in the standings and improved their record to 10-3, while Kagman 1-2-3 dropped to 3-11.

After the combination of foul weather and the ejection of the C-Bees Four from the league threw a monkey wrench into the schedule, the rough and tumble world of fast pitch softball returns to the confines of the Oleai Sports Complex next week Tuesday. Kagman 1-2-3 (3-11) has one game left, the D-9ers (10-3) and Sluggers (6-7) have two games remaining, and the Islanders (3-9) have a trio of contests left on the table before the playoffs can get underway.
