Man with rifle storms establishment
A man armed with a rifle stormed into a computer establishment early Sunday morning and demanded money from the owner but, after a brief scuffle, he was disarmed, forcing him to run away.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric F. David said that, at about 4:44am, the unknown male suspect had entered the Yu Li Computer establishment across Joeten in Gualo Rai, walked behind one victim, Li Hu Li, and grabbed her $15 that was on the computer table.
He then brandished the Ruger .22-caliber rifle and demanded money from the victims.
A witness ran into the owner’s bedroom and informed him of the incident occurring outside.
David said the owner, Shenghua Lu, went to the computer room, only to have the suspect point the gun at him, the tip of the rifle on the victim’s left cheek. The suspect then demanded money from him.
After telling the suspect he had no money, the owner suddenly took hold of the gun and struggled with the suspect for control of the weapon. The two were still struggling for the gun when the suspect punched the owner. It was then that the owner managed to wrest the gun away.
The suspect then ran toward Joeten, where the owner shot at him. The report did not indicate if the suspect was actually hit. No other injuries were reported.
David said the suspect was wearing a black mask and a camouflage shirt.
Police secured the rifle upon arrival at the scene.
