The Marianas Visitors Authority will be participating at the upcoming Philippine Travel and Tour Expo slated Feb. 4-6, 2005 in Manila, the Philippines.

A joint marketing approach between Continental Airlines, the Guam Visitors Bureau and the Palau Visitors Authority will be presented to the travel and trade professionals as well to the general consumers.

The CNMI attracts visitors from the Philippines mainly with interest in the educational field, particularly with the NCLEX program at the Northern Marianas College and the International Business and Professional College located in the Nauru Building, Susupe.

“Among the National Tourism Offices, each NTO feels that co-joining our presence is a valuable tactic to save cost and promote the islands as a region called Micronesia,” said Martin Duenas, acting managing director.

Leading the delegation, Duenas, together with board director Edward Maratita from Rota and marketing assistant Brenda Repeki, will also participate in a sponsored trade seminar hosted by Continental Airlines.

An invited list of media and travel agents will attend the event at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel on Feb. 2, 2005. Each NTO will have an opportunity to present the destinations product to the invited guest.

“This program will benefit the CNMI as we showcase the product of interest, in this case the educational motives that bring Filipino travelers to our shores and now that Continental Airlines has increased their services, it is an opportune time to leverage the CNMI’s exposure in the market,” said Duenas.
