Wabol wins record-setting 5th term as RGA head
Jess Wabol found himself setting a new record off the fairways and greens of the golf course, when Saipan’s Mr. Unorthodox won a 5th term as president of the Refaluwasch Golf Association.
Wabol, who is one of the finest par-busters the Northern Mariana Islands has ever produced, was reelected to a second consecutive term during the association’s annual board meeting recently.
Also elected to posts for the 2005 calendar year were Eddie Peter as vice president, Sonny Flores as treasurer, John Guerrero as secretary, and Tony Satur as handicap chairman and tournament director.
Wabol said he is yet to hear from Guerrero if he has accepted his election as secretary position. In any event Guerrero turns down the post, Wabol said Flores would assume the positions of both treasurer and secretary.
Wabol is also reminding the membership of RGA that they will be holding their February qualifying tournament on Feb. 5 at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
Check in time is set at 11am with tee off scheduled an hour later at 12pm. Tournament fee is $30 and slots for 16 players are available.
Wabol said that the club is entertaining new members at the start of the year. Membership fee is $50, which is the same cost for renewals.
The membership fee covers the period from January to December. Wabol is also reminding current RGA members to take care of their membership dues as early as possible.
