The Emergency Management Office now has a public information officer, hired for the purpose of coordinating efforts when sending out public information, notices, advisories, and alerts.

Benjamin Cepeda, who now serves as the official EMO spokesperson, is tasked with coordinating and disseminating all information related to any and all EMO operations including training, exercise, any disaster event, school requests, and any other related activities.

This was according to a memorandum issued yesterday by acting director Mark S. Pangelinan, who informed the media, EMO personnel, and other agencies, of Cepeda’s role.

“I am requesting that if there are any media concerns or questions that are received via telephone here at our office to please forward them to Mr. Cepeda. I am also requesting each section supervisor to please check with Cepeda in coordinating their section activities that needs to be disseminated out to the public for their information,” Pangelinan told the EMO staff.

“It is important that we centralize all incoming and outgoing information and that will be better coordinated by [Cepeda] to avoid any misinformation, confusion, and duplication of efforts.
