Brandon Santos of the Fielders walked just two batters through five hitless innings on Saturday at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field, but Jerome Kaipat of the Senior League Eagles scored the only run for his team via an error in the first inning before Santos closed the door with seven strikeouts.

Aside from the walks, two errors, and a bean ball, the Fielders’ ace had a relatively perfect outing that allowed his team to even their record at 1-1. Santos kept the Eagles offense in check, while teammate Joe Salas kept the home-fires burning with a flawless 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Salas’ three singles drove in four runs for the Fielders en route to a 12-point plucking of the Eagles (1-1).

AZTECS 16, BRAVES 13

Starting pitcher Nicolas San Nicolas went the distance for the Aztecs in a barn burner against the Braves, and the Senior Leaguer racked up 13 strikeouts along the way—including the final two batters of the game. San Nicolas didn’t allow a base runner until the third inning, but while the Braves started to cross the plate as he began to fade, the youngster found the strength to finish with a scoreless seventh inning.

San Nicolas allowed 13 runs off of 10 hits throughout the game, and hit a couple of his own on the other side of the plate to finish 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and two runs scored.

The Aztecs took sole possession of first place with their second win of the season and have yet to lose, while the Braves had to settle for second at 1-1.

OL’ ACES 12, HUSTLERS 6

The Ol’Aces doubled up on the Hustlers with a little help from their opponents, as they scored 12 runs off of six hits through six innings of work at the Palacios Field. The Hustlers hand-delivered eight walks to the Ol’Aces, and allowed four more runners an opportunity at blazing the base path by adding four throwing errors to their list of generous acts. Lost amidst the folly was a solid game on the mound by Jesus Iguel, who allowed just five runs in five- and two-thirds innings for the Ol’Aces with seven strikeouts, while reliever Shane Yamada finished the remaining one and a third innings yielding a run off of one hit.

LITTLE LEAGUE
AS MATUIS TWINS 17, OL’ ACES 11

Eric Tenorio put on a hitting clinic Saturday morning for all to see, as he lifted the Twins to their third win of the season with a 5-for-5 performance at the plate that included a two-run homerun in the top of the second inning to give his team a 7-2 lead.

Tenorio finished the day with four runs batted in, four runs scored, and three stolen bases for the Twins, while teammate Dave Jones went 3-for-5 with a pair of singles, a triple, four ribbies, and four runs scored in the win.

KAGMAN 1-2-3 6, MCDONALD’S 2

James Lizama did it all form both sides of the plate for the kids from Kagman, as the little homesteader went five innings atop the mound, allowing two runs off of four hits while striking out eight before James Celis came in to mop up for the final three outs.

Lizama gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning due to a pair of passed balls and a stolen base, but recovered to have an outstanding day.

Lizama was a solid 2-for-4 at the plate as well, smacking a single, an RBI double, and scoring twice.

Celis came in to fan a pair, including the final out of the game, to complete the second win for Kagman 1-2-3.

DAN DAN BLUE JAYS 13, LITTLE LEGALS 3

Eisibie Arurang had a perfect day at the ballpark on Sunday, as the Dan Dan catcher hit a pair of doubles and a single in three attempts at the plate. Arurang went 3-for-3 with three runs scored to compliment his pair for runs batted in, while his pitcher dominated atop the mound.

Anthony Salas threw the blue darter for the Blue Jays, as the Legals failed to litigate themselves more than five hits in four innings. Salas struck out six of the Legals on the day, including an impressive 1-2-3 fanning in the game’s final inning before being called via the 10-run mercy rule.

TANAPAG BRAVES 10, VFW PATRIOTS 1

The Braves held a 3-1 lead after four and a half innings of work, and it looked as if the Patriots were on the verge of a comeback, but all of that changed when the Braves went ballistic in the bottom of the four-hit, seven-run fifth inning that put all thoughts of rally cries to bed.

Chris Meyers singled to get the ball rolling, and got to bat again to end the inning as the Braves cycled through their line-up amidst a tsunami of scores. Meyers finished the game 2-for-4 with a single, a double, a run batted in, and a score, while Saturday’s pitcher turned Sunday’s third baseman, Charito Kladikim, went 2-for-4 with a single, a double, and two runs scored.
