The golden opportunity to show your stuff on the hard court, while contributing to a worthy cause, is approaching as generous sponsors have indicated their support for a three-on-three basketball tournament, which proceeds will benefit the Marianas March Against Cancer.

Dubbed the 2005 Hoops For Life, the two-day tournament is scheduled to tip off on April 30 and conclude on May 1.

According to organizers, action will kick off at 9am on both days at the San Antonio basketball court. The Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium at the Oleai Sports Complex may also be used for the tourney.

Male and female divisions will be featured in the tourney. Each team can comprise of a maximum of five players, however, only three are allowed on the court at a time—hence the event being called a three-on-three tourney. Players on the same team are urged to wear the same colored shirts.

Interested teams are urged to register early, with organizers providing an early bird fee of $50 if teams register by April 22. Teams who register after the mentioned date will have to pay $60. Registration forms must be accompanied by the entry fee and can be turned in to the PIC front desk or information center.

Players taking part in the competition will each receive a T-shirt, water park passes—valid only during tournament days—at the Pacific Islands Club, and drinks.

Cash and other prizes will also be up for grabs.

Sponsors for the tournament include PIC, Pacific Trading Co., and Joeten Enterprises.
