Kagman High School entered the Mock Trial competition for the first time this year and, although the school didn’t win, KHS participants gained valuable experience that they believe would help them prepare for next year.

“With most of the team composed of freshmen, the KHS Mock Trial Team is looking forward to the future competitions with great enthusiasm. In fact the team is already talking about next year and what it can do to be better prepared for the competition,” the school said in a statement.

KHS said it is extremely proud of Virginia Castro, who won the “Most Effective Prosecutor” award—a great accomplishment for a first-time 9th grader who was competing against experienced and older competitors.

“Virginia has set the bar of expectations very high for the Kagman team and she has also given the team a solid foundation for building a more successful team in future competitions,” said the school.

Other members of the team are Alexis Cabrera, Arlene Rabauliman, Bernadine Montaque, Ciara Maratita, Irene Caberos, Nadia Benjamin, Oceana Aldan, Pgellynn Falig, Rellani Ogumoro, Requel Ogumoro, and Tracy Babauta.

Attorneys Jeffery and Rebecca Warfield from the Attorney General’s Office and Teacher Representative Ambrose M. Bennett coached the KHS Mock Trial Team.

The team is truly grateful to all the coaches for the many hours they put in preparing for the competition. (PR)
