The BANMI 25-and-under Basketball League started with eight teams, and even before playoff time, two have already been eliminated from further action.

This according to BANMI official Elias Rangamar, who disclosed yesterday that the San Vicente Sunrisers and Tanapag Warriors were eliminated from further action in the 2005 season due to the non-settling of their entrance fee requirements. Both were holding 0-3 win-loss cards.

With the two teams getting an early exit, only six teams will continue their push in hopes of claiming the coveted championship crown.

Teams remaining include SaipanCell-NMC Hoopaholics, Toyota Prius, Ulloa, San Antonio Wildcats, Ghasias 7-Kings, and the Garapan Rollers.

With the departure of the Sunrisers and Warriors, as well as several games being postponed due to the recent 15th Annual Jam Attack Volleyball Tournament and in observation of Holy Week, BANMI released a revised scheduled for the remainder of the season.

Because only six teams remain, league officials have also decided to extend the season from its originally planned single-round to two rounds before the start of the playoffs.

After this week, games will be played every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Tonight’s highly anticipated bout between titans Hoopaholics and Prius will continue as originally scheduled at 6:30pm, as well as the battle between the 7-Kings and Wildcats at 8pm.

Tomorrow’s bout features Ulloa squaring off against the G-Rollers at 1pm.

The league will take a weeklong break before resuming on Monday, April 11, with the 7-Kings taking on the G-Rollers at 6:30pm and the Hoopaholics battling the Wildcats at 8pm, closing out the first round of action.

Second-round action is scheduled to begin on April 13, with Team Hoops and 7-Kings banging heads in the opener and the G-Rollers going head to head with Prius.
