Thank you for tribute to military
I am extremely appreciative of the fact that our government and the people of the CNMI are honoring us the men and women of our United States Armed Forces. The governor’s proclamation for the month of May to be in honor of service members is an absolutely great tribute; especially for me and all those who serve and furthermore have sacrificed in either the war in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Having been a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, I can say that our great nation is defended by the best. I led up to more than 200 soldiers in 14 months of combat. I have also seen the various faces of both our foes and our allies and nothing compares to Americas men and women in the profession of arms. The true dedication and commitment to excellence is the driving force for the heroism and sacrifice by the U.S. military might.
I have led, observed, lived with, and fought alongside the best. Make no mistake, that as you celebrate and thank those who serve or have served, you are making a bit more difference (positive impact) in our lives by encouraging us even more.
I would like to add and ask that we also thank and salute the family members who have endured the many sacrifices at the home front. They indeed have been doing us a great feat by their mirrored sacrifices and support from the rear. It is not an easy task to carry the load of the household while the other half is off to war. One must understand that many family members have either already done a great job for those who have come back, or are doing an invaluable service, supporting those who are still in harm’s way.
Furthermore, I personally want to return the favor and THANK the CNMI government and my fellow citizens for this tribute. I am very thankful for the support and many prayers that have been given to me and the world’s best institution, the U.S. military. Moreover, I am grateful for the sacrifices of my fellow CNMI service members who are either back or are now over there.
As I talk and brief my own soldiers in my command, I continue to remind them of my heritage and more importantly how much my fellow CNMI citizens support our efforts. So, Un Dankolu Na Si Yuus Maase para todos hamyu! I am proud of my service, just as all of my soldiers are. I am honored to have fought for what I believe in freedom for the Iraqi people and security for America. It is indeed a fact that today’s service members are all making a significant contribution to the War on Terror. I can attest to the accomplishments we are making in Iraq, and it is no easy task. However, it takes America’s bravest and most courageous to answer the call. I also am aware that we have many of our own from the Reserves who are over there, and I am very confident and grateful for their sacrifices.
In conclusion, to the CNMI citizens, I want to say: I am indebted for the support and prayers from each and every one of you, and I also would like to thank the Governor and those involved in the May proclamation, honoring America’s best. You are indeed doing a great tribute to us. So, in essence, you must be proud, be loud, and rest assured that you are being provided the best service for freedom and security. Finally, I salute my fellow veterans, their families, and my fellow citizens of the Commonwealth for we all stand ready to answer our nation’s call.
