Humanities Council elects new set of officers

The Northern Mariana Islands Council for the Humanities elected a new slate of officers during its quarterly board meeting held on April 9.

Herman T. Guerrero was elected as the board’s chair. Guerrero joined the council’s board in 1992 and served two terms as chair during his original nine-year tenure. He was reelected to the board in 2003 and served as its vice chair for the past year.

The board also elected Felicidad Ogumoro as the new vice chair. Ogumoro originally was elected to the council’s board at its inception in 1991 and reelected to a fourth term in 2004.

Alvaro A. Santos was tapped as the board’s new secretary/treasurer. Santos joined the board in 2004.

Outgoing officers are chair Dr. Elizabeth D. Rechebei, Guerrero, and secretary/treasurer Galvin S. Deleon Guerrero.

These newly elected officers will serve a one-year term.

The Humanities Council is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to bringing quality humanities programs to the Commonwealth. (PR)
